sorry seth, you’re wrong
sure, if everything was legalized we would definitely go through a rough patch where od’s and addiction would be kinda rampant, but, after that initial growth stage drugs would lose their stigma and people would move on (just like the drunk who is in the bar day in and day out is ostracized as would the junkie who doesn’t leave the opium den)
these chemicals could have a really positive effect on our life style and people who wanted to enhance their existence with them would be free to do so, plus we would actually know what the real life effects of these chems have on us instead of pushing them away and not doing any research like we do now!

If crack was legal not gonna lie I would be tempted to buy it and smoke it just cause I could, like they said. Crack is probably something I shouldn’t be doing…

Sorry bitter music snob, and I quote, There is a reason why all drugs aren’t legal, and its not because of the oppressive closed mindedness of “the man”, that is reserved for many other errors in policy, judgment, etc.. Lets look at Cocaine for example which used to be OTC. If Cocaine were legal where you could pick it up like a headache powder, then there would be no stigma attached to its use and it would be acceptable to use in casual all day scenarios. Sure people would be moving around very fast and productivity would be at a 1920’s pace, however you would have a myriad of tween tweekers. Now at this point I would like to say I am not against people doing what they want to do, your going to do it in the end anyway. I have never had any of my coke head buddies say anything like “Man since I started getting blowed my life has really come together, Im healthy, my interpersonal relationships have been enriched, and I never knew life could be so good!!!! Everyone I have known with a serious coke problem usually talks about how they need to quit doing this drug, thats why its referred to as “that bitch”. Its good that drugs are not legal, it adds a level of accountability, in the sense that you still have the stigma of something being wrong with consuming the drug. You have to put yourself in a shady situation acquiring such substances, and you have the benefit of seeing when is to far to go with the substance, i.e. the junkies you come in contact with procuring the substance. This reminds you that indulging in said substances need to be kept in check and put in their places in your life that you choose to include the substance. I am not judging anyone I have done almost every drug there is, but I know that I cant do drugs all the time. If drugs can be purchased easily the mores surrounding their use in our society would be changed and would most likely have an adverse effect on our society. The way it is now if you want to do drugs, you can. Anyone that is into drugs knows where to get them, sure you may have to wait a couple of days for your source to re-up but you shouldn’t have any trouble getting what you want. There is no real reason for drugs to be legal, just dont get caught and keep them in check.
In Portugal all drugs were decriminalised about 6 or 7 years ago.
They’ve seen less drug use among teenagers, lower rates of hiv/aids, and more people seeking treatment,

it’s not complete legalization but it’s the closest thing and it’s a hell of alot better than just guessing at what would happen.
I can’t believe Jesus has come out and is doing meth.

I agree that drugs should be decriminalized. I think its absurd that someone should go to jail for smoking some weed. I was busted for simple possession about ten years ago, and had to serve 48 hours (i know its not that long) but having to serve any jail time for a half full dugout is insane. Lets face it though our country is not really about rehabilitation, the court system is a business thats purpose is to generate revenue. I support decriminalization 100%, I just dont think drugs should be legalized.
drugs are the best thing ever, all of you be quiet
Odelay and shit
Drug use shouldn’t be encouraged, but decriminalized and the purchase of most drugs should taxed and regulated. There should be treatment for addiction instead of incarceration, which is vastly more expensive than treatment.
Sale of drugs should generate tax revenue, not fill the coffers of druglords cutting the heads off of police chiefs and mayors all over Mexico.
Who are the people lobbying HARD against legalization/taxation?
Prison industrial complex (and related companies)
Big Pharma
Big Tobacco
Maybe it shouldn’t seem odd then, that when prohibition ended and alcohol/tobacco were made legal, it was largely the cotton growers lobbying that kept mj and it’s byproduct, hemp, illegal. After all, at the time there was a huge market for ropes for ships… which could be made from fibers of cotton… or hemp. Cotton farmers won.
We have the best government money can buy. Literally.
What do you do when you find a tick on your body? You pull it off, go outside, and eat it- in front of all the other ticks.
the wind was cold and the world was old
im playing hemp tycoon right now. seems fine.
personally, I’d rather give my money to my drug dealer than the government, he needs it more than they do.

the way things are going, tho, pretty soon you’ll be giving your money directly to the Mexican government.
Yes, I’m impugning a continent.
My only concern with legalization of everything is that the majority of folks are stupid and since something can be bought over the counter, they’ll try it and get hooked. I’m smart enough to know that it’d be a bad idea to do coke, or smoke meth or whatever, but there are a lot of dumb people out there that think that since something is legal it can’t be that bad for you.
That said, I still think everything should be legal, because of the missed tax dollars, but I also tend to think that the gov’t is profiting way more from black market drug sales, not to mention the control they can mantain over the masses with those drugs.
Dumb people doing hard drugs may thin the herd a bit…

couldn’t agree with your logic more Aighead. Granted your multiple counts of fatherhood makes you a bit more guilty for continuing this over population that were dealing with, but you’re right. lets thin this herd. dial it back.
How about for a little while everyone that wants a kid only gets to have one? Doesn’t have to go all children of men steez and wind up with Clive Owen running the show.
you wanna save the planet? what if i could tell you that we can, AND not have to cut back on our individual consumption rates of its resources?
All we gotta do is cut out the baby making for a minute, let a few reckless heads chase a dragon or do some trainspotting, and then reboot when we notice that the rent aint too damn high no more and we’re not all crammed into a 500sq. ft apartment in NYC with 12 other roommates.
or.
just give me a $50 ticket if you catch me smoking pot near a school zone.
The man is trying to harsh your mellow guys! You should probably do something about it.
ALL OF ‘EM
we’ll do something about it tomorrow, now close those blinds and come hit this.
wanky.
can we all at least agree that mushrooms, lsd, MDMA, and DMT should be leagal?
Cuz they should be legal, and they should be inside of me (wanky). At all times
Odelay and shit
Sweatercuff, I don’t really believe in overpopulation as life stands right now… Granted there are some crowded places, but there are, just outside of those crowded places (at least here in the west) really big empty spaces. That’s not to say that thinning the herd is a bad idea, because we may as well condense the smart folk…

its not about space, there is more than enough space around. Its the resources it takes to support the population. food water energy. we’re straining it all.

2.Nearly forty percent of births in the US are unintended.”
