8:08 – Seth encourages everyone to go out and drink a Shamrock Shake in honor of St. Patrick’s Day coming up. The green mint-flavored shake first debuted in 1970. You can go to shamrockshake.com to see what spots they are available in.
16:16 – Heinz introduced their traditional ketchup packet in 1968 and basically began receiving death threats the day after when someone squeezed it on their dress shirt. They have finally unveiled a new pack that is shaped like a cup that can be peeled back like a McNugget sauce. It allows for dunking and holds three times as much ketchup as a normal packet. They sell 11 billion packets a year.
55:57 – Mattel is preparing to release “Puppy Tweets,” a high-tech tool that will allow dogs to use Twitter. The plastic tag attaches to the dog’s collar and randomly generates one of 500 canned tweets when the dog moves or tweets. Owners are provided a USB receiver that they connect to their computer, then download the software and create a Twitter account. Tweets will come across like, “I barked because I missed you. There, I said it. Now hurry home.” … “I finally caught that tail I’ve been chasing. Ouch!”

4:29 – Chick-fil-A has a new spicy chicken sandwich. It’s the first one they’ve unveiled since 1989. They have 1,485 locations and offered up a reservation to come in and try the sandwich for free. They’re completely booked. It doesn’t officially hit stores until June 7. Chick-fil-A is still second to KFC as far as chains go. They’re also closed on Sundays. Jah guesses this is because the owner is observing the Sabbath.

50:23 – In 2011, we will see the arrival of new menu items at several fast food chains. Dunkin’ Donuts is launching pancake bites – bite-sized sausage links wrapped in maple-flavored pancake – for $1.59. Taco Bell will partner with Cinnabon for the Cinnabon Delight ($1.49). Burger King will unveil the “utterly astonishing, unbelievability” of funnel cake sticks – hot and crispy strips of funnel cake covered in powdered sugar with a cup of icing dipping sauce. 28:17 – The world’s first mass-marketed electric car, the Nissan Leaf, is rolling out into U.S. showrooms. Nissan spent years developing the Leaf’s unique sound, including getting input from music theorists, Hollywood movie sound effects experts, acoustic psychologists and advocates within the blind community. A built-in synthesizer will emit noises when the vehicle slows under 20 miles per hour to alert pedestrians of its approach. Listeners describe it as a gentler version of an airplane taking off. When backing up, the car pings like a sonar.
32:57 – Trident, the gum manufacturer, will unveil a new gum lineup called Trident Vitality, “a little piece of well-being.” It will include three flavors – Vigorate (a burst of citrus and strawberry containing 10% of the daily Vitamin C requirements), Rejuve (a blend of mint and white tea) and Awaken (a peppy peppermint with a dash of ginseng).

1:04:00 – Dr Pepper (aka Snapple Group) is testing Dr Pepper 10 – a 10-calorie-per-serving drink aimed at men 25-34 years old. It will be demo’d in Austin, Colorado Springs, Denver, Des Moines, Kansas City and San Antonio. “It has a blend of sweeteners and a little bit of sugar,” says Dr Pepper/Snapple Group executive Dave Fleming. “It delivers that mouth feel, that full regular taste. The experience we heard from these males is that some diet soft drinks have a thin diet taste to them. It has high fructose corn syrup in it and Ace-K potassium. Diet Dr Pepper is sweetened with aspartame, which tastes terrible. Other competitors have low-calorie products with a blend of sweeteners. During the week of April 11, a mobile man cave will make its way to Des Moines, and Dr Pepper will unveil “points of testosterone” for its tour stops.

That is legal as long as the person whose messages are shared gives permission for it. The software can be used surreptitiously. It can be installed on someone’s phone by a boss or a business rival or a boyfriend without that person’s knowledge as long as the installer can get access to the phone for maybe a few minutes. App developer DLP Mobile recommends on its website that doing so without permission amounts to illegal wiretapping, according to experts.

Dr. Elizabeth Kinsley, a New Orleans-based plastic surgeon, said she created the app to give people interested in breast implants a tool to determine which size would be the best fit. Users choose a new or existing picture and highlight the breast area by clicking on it. Photos are supposed to be taken in a bra, bathing suit or light-colored top to give better results.

They will roll out an 11-item roundup of classic American breakfast options next week in 750 restaurants in 10 different states including California. This includes Cinnabon Delights, breakfast burritos, Johnsonville sausage n egg wraps, Tropicana orange juice and Seattle’s Best coffee. The restaurant is also testing Cantina Bell menu at select restaruants, including one in Bakersfield. This could position it as a stronger competitor to the fast casual Mexican restaurants like Chipotlé. These more health-minded offerings will feature grilled-corn salsa, black beans, marinated chicken and others.

26:01 – A new app called Movie Pal uses audio recognition technology so that when you’re watching a movie trailer, the app identifies the movie. It then reminds you months later when the movie comes out.
