Thanks! I’m really not sure, but I tried to make it as open to everyone’s input as it allowed me to. I’m pretty close to the Sethro end of the tech spectrum, so forgive my helplessness.

Also, Sethro IS looking so very handsome with the salt-and-pepper look, isn’t he? So distinguished. Especially since he’s only 32. (Wait, did I do the shaving math right?)

This has some real potential.

And if someone could Photoshop Seth onto a Just for Men box, it’d make my day. Trust.

Hey, awesome. The video wouldn’t show up unless I made it a video post, so I had to redo it. I won’t normally. I’m still learning. Are we cool? Thanks for the ‘bmission. It’s exactly what I was thinking of. Please keep making them so the burden isn’t all on me to keep up the momentum!

Also, do you and Aig mean you want to know who on the forum made the tumblr posts? Coz if so, I can easily tag you with your handle if you tell me who you are or you can just sign off your post with your forum name. I did tag both you and fat dennis with your tumblr names on your posts. I also made it so that on the tumblr feed the authors’ photos on the non-me posts show up beside their submissions, so that’s something distinguishing. If you or Aig or anyone wants to mess around in tumblr and figure out how I can make it more community friendly, I’m totes up for the assistance. Get the interns on it. <<Chardonnay, are you reading this?>>

Also, Jamball was asking me what the diff was between the blog and the forum is, but I think there are enough posts up now to see the kind of thing I’m aiming for. Something cuter and more accessible maybe? Not that this site isn’t the best. I mean, I love the forum (obvy, since I’m all up in its guts), but it’s for us uyd4lifers, whereas I think the blog can be a little more accessible? No? At least prettier and bite-sized? I guess I mean just something a little bloggier as opposed to more purely forumish? 

I mean, it’s all for the boys, no matter what. I serve at the pleasure of my UYD overlords. Ok, now I have “Let’s Hear It for the Boys” in my head. Fuck me.

If we are slick, and though I imagine Seth wouldn’t use it, the tumblr could theoretically be the place for him to get all his news for topics of the show… One stop shopping.

So this is crazy, yo. A few months ago I set up a secondary Tumblr account: UYDeconstruct where I fancied I might post photos of mine that tied in to sitches referenced on UYD. But I’m even worse at maintaining anything beyond my Flickr account & dropped the ball.

So my question, Sethro, is, could I upload photos as long as I include a quote from the show that ties to the photo? Or should all photos somehow have Seth and Jah physically or photoshopped into them?....

UYDu, you know that we’re on the same wavelength, generally speaking. Like, I think we’re right there most of the time. So I def want you to be a part of this and I like the photos I’ve seen you post, fo sho.

At the moment, I definitely want to keep it as UYD as possible, just because 8 posts in it’s important to make sure to establish a thematic tone. However, I think we are looking at a 25 post max until we’re stretching the UYD image/content matching. I’m going pretty heavy with that on my end at the moment, as I said, to establish a tone. However, as a historian, I think we should learn from Jah blowing his poetry load. So I say matching original content with UYD quotes or clips sounds like a great idea. Go for it UYDu!

On another tip, I would like to ask for advice from y’all. Do you think I should editorialize to set a consistent tone or should I simply greenlight any post sumbitted? If it’s any guide, both posts submitted and posted thus far by other users would have easily passed any editorial rubric, and how. They were super. And I’d certainly post wayyy less super ones, too. That’s not the point.  I mean just editing for unimaginably (like I can’t think of an example, so literally unimaginable) bullshit sumbmissions.

Also, what if (unlike the posts already submitted, again), they need editing? Is it OK if I do so or is that rude? Grammar is important, but so are manners. Ugh!

I wouldn’t stress about it too much. One of the great things about the forums & why I love it so is that anything goes. If you’re acting like an ass, UYD Nation are usually either pretty good at calling you out on it or just ignoring you. I do also think that it’s your tumblr thingy, so do with it as you choose. It’s always nice to have another UYD related thing to check out and see. This site is my house. There are so many rooms to play in and it’s where my family lives. Yours is my aunt’s house. I love going there as well. She bakes the best cookies, but her rules are different. I say, just have fun and don’t over think it. Nice work on the blog so far though!

I think you should totally editorialize and edit as needed. Think of it as a curated space, not a dumping ground. The best thematic Flickr groups do that—which means not all photos submitted get accepted—but that ultimately means a better, more consistent group of photos as an end result. I know from my experience in such Flickr scenarios, when I’ve had a photo ‘rejected’, it’s helped me get a better grip on what that group’s moderator *is* looking for, and it’s helped me become a better editor of my own stuff as a result.

(& thanks! I’ll sit tight on posting photos but will start thinking of possible quote/photo combos for when the time is right)

I just tried out my very first photoshoppings. Also, if anyone could send more posts, that’d be awesome. I figured out how to queue them so they’ll autopost twice a day. And I can also make people members and admins and I really want to do so to help spread the joy/pain of keeping it up, but I want a few posts from whomever first to make sure they’ll be legit, you know. Well, I sent an invite straight to Jah’s uyd email, but he won’t hit me back. ARE YOU READING THIS?

Sethro, you should be proud of yourself for how organized you’ve been for this whole tumblr account. Well done. I also like the way you edited my post a bit to make it read better, so I agree with uydu about you editorializing as needed.

Uh, is there a good way to send or add pictures to posts already made? I don’t know how tumblr works but if you want to add a few more pictures to the post that I wrote I’ll send them along. I know there’s at least a couple with me and Seth, I don’t know about with Jah, but I have one of the stage as well… Let me know.
